Project Runway

Slight spoiler below!

Ugh, I disagreed with so many of the judge’s choices this season. I know it was more difficult since Michael Kors and Nina Garcia weren’t there half the time, but still. Carol Hannah should have won.

Hopefully next season is better!

Finally being a good English major.

I really haven’t read much since this summer when I was on a Paul Auster kick, but in the past several days, I’ve read three books, beginning with…

Watchmen by Alan Moore. I’ve read a couple of graphic novels so it was not entirely unfamiliar territory. I thought it was well-crafted but not necessarily something I would read again.

Yesterday, I read…

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I have several friends who have read this novel and enjoyed it so I thought I’d see what the fuss was about. The moral and ethical dilemma at the core of the novel was captivating, and it was interesting to get the perspective of multiple characters as the narrator changed. Overall, a good read.

Today, I read…

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I nearly read No Country for Old Men, also by McCarthy, but since I’d seen that movie, I opted to read The Road since I knew nothing about it other than that it has been greatly acclaimed over the past couple of years; Oprah even chose the novel for her book club. I’d never read any of McCarthy’s work previously, but I liked his style of writing, which I thought was appropriately as minimalist and bleak as the world in which the man and his son were roaming. Their relationship and love for one another provides a sense of hope in the novel, despite the otherwise incomprehensible horrors which encompass its world. Easily the best of the three books I read.

While I probably won’t keep up this pace with reading, I’ll probably read more regularly. :)

CCH part deux.

I never followed up on Comics Come Home; it was really quite funny, aside from the second to last comic, who was so bad he was heckled. Patrice Oneal had the best bit when he suggested Harassment Day, where for one day a year you can harass people at work. For instance, give a woman some flowers, ask her to blow you, and when she declines, say, “No problem. Enjoy the flowers; Happy Harassment Day.” I don’t do it justice but it was pretty hilarious.

I met Denis Leary backstage again since I’m friends with his niece. I was also right next to Bruins legend Cam Neely briefly, which was pretty cool. Hopefully Nicholas and I will be able to attend the Boston Bruins Legends Classic on January 2…

CCH!

Off to the Agganis to see Comics Come Home! It’ll be my fourth year in attendance, and I’m sure it will be hilarious as always.

"Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality. And the protections that we have for religion — we protect religion. And talk about a lifestyle choice — that is absolutely a choice… It’s a travesty that people have forced someone who is gay to have to make their case that they deserve the same basic rights as someone else…"

I just got Google Wave! Time to explore it…

Remember when Tinker Bell drank the poison, and Peter Pan broke the 4th wall and asked you to clap?
My poor baby’s gonna need a lot of clapping.

*claps frantically*

*more clapping frantically*
*still more frantic clapping*
